I’m broadcasting this week’s episode of Real Health live from the Irish Independent tent at the National Plowing Championships in Co. Laois.

Mairead McGuinness, the EU Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability, and Capital Markets Union, joined me with great pleasure. Mairead joined me on stage to discuss the Ploughing Championships, her position as an EU commissioner, as well as all that came before her current position.

Prior to entering politics, Mairead worked as a journalist, which she claims were something she always wanted to do. When I wrote to RTÉ, they responded with the message, “When you’ve grown up, come back.”

Reaching out to young people who are listening won’t do any harm. Having a dream or vision is not harmful. There are too many people who will tell you, “You can’t do that,” so you don’t have to tell them all. I always advise people to not discount their wildest dreams.
