The grades that Kate, William, Harry, and other members of the Royal Family received
How have members of the Royal Family performed in their exams throughout the years, as students across the nation rejoice or lament their A-level results?
The most recent royal to take A-level exams was Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Although the palace withheld her grade results from last year, they did confirm that she had been accepted to the University of St. Andrews.
The usual admittance grade for the English Literature course Lady Louise is taking is three A grades, so it’s safe to presume she did pretty well on her examinations. The university is highly regarded and competitive, as well as being the same one that her cousin the Prince of Wales attended.
Results of Prince William’s AP exams
When Prince William graduated from Eton College in 2000, he earned an A in geography, a B in art history, and a C in biology.
He made the decision to take a year off before starting university, traveling throughout Africa and teaching children in southern Chile.
In 2001, William enrolled at the University of St. Andrews, where he first met Kate Middleton, his future wife.
He first decided on a degree in art history before switching to geography. His graduation grade was a 2:1 in 2005.
Results of Prince Harry’s AP exams
Prince Harry graduated from Eton College with a B in art and a D in geography for his two A-level passes.
Prior to starting his Army career at the Royal Military Academy Sandburs in May 2005, he spent a gap year in Australia.
In his autobiography Spare, Harry admitted that he wasn’t as academic as his older brother and that he had a sit-down conversation about his future with his father Charles as he prepared to leave Eton. The then-Prince of Wales rejected Harry’s suggestions that he become a ski instructor or safari guide.
I read all of its literature and even gave taking an art history course some thought. (That subject attracted a lot of attractive girls.) But I just couldn’t see myself hunched over a book for years on end. My housemaster at Eton was also unable. You’re not the university type, Harry, he had said out loud.
Pa now added his approval. He kindly said that the fact that I wasn’t the “family scholar” was no secret. It wasn’t intended to be a dig.
I still grunted. After much back and forth between us and introspection on my part, we finally settled on the Army through the process of elimination. It was logical.
